Hypertension is a common disease in Germany. 25 percent of Germans are affect by it with many not even knowing it. High blood pressure (hypertension) has symptoms that may increase over time. There are many medicines available to lower blood pressure including beta-blockers, diuretics and ACE inhibitors. In the treatment for high blood pressure, the person concerned can do many things by themselves to help, this includes fighting obesity, having a diet low in salt, stopping smoking and drinking less or no alcohol. 

Permanently high blood pressure can not only lead to a heart attack, but it can also damage the heart, brain, eyes and kidneys. This damage in turn leads to the possibility of secondary diseases that affect the cardiovascular stystem and can lead to heart attacks or strokes.

In order to control blood pressure regularly, it can be very useful to purchase a blood pressure monitor. Regular blood pressure measurements are a good way to see whether or not you have constant high blood pressure. Some people only have it temporarily and one test won’t give you a true diagnosis.
