Medication lisinopril and high blood pressure

Solutions for high blood pressure gives us the lisinopril
Lisinopril in hypertension

Lisinopril comes from the family of ACE inhibitors and it is an antihypertensive drug and it can also be used for the treatment of heart failure and during the recovery of heart attacks.

In hypertensive patients, the drug can be used both as a single agent and in in conjunction with other blood pressure lowering agents.

Patients who are treated after a heart attack with ACE inhibitors (including Lisinopril) have a significantly lower risk of death.

Unlike beta-blockers and calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors do not change the heart rate.

Thus, most patients can tolerate ACE inhibitors better than other antihypertensive agents.

However, a result of taking ACE inhibitors such as lisinopril, can lead to a mild (and in some cases also very strong) urge to cough.

Lisinopril is based on the inhibition of ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) produced in the kidney enzyme and thus reduces the formation of angiotensin II.

Angiotensin II causes the constriction of blood vessels and increases blood pressure.

This counteracts the ACE inhibitor.

Thus, ACE inhibitors act such as Lisinopril lower the blood pressure and provide heart relief.

In addition, ACE inhibitors also increase the amount of salt and water that is excreted and in turn helps to lower the blood pressure.
